Terms and conditions

1. Provider and scope

The provider and your contracting party is Georg Heiler, Alex-Müller-Str. 90, 67657 Kaiserslautern, Germany, email info@prefill.eu. Full details are in the legal notice.

These terms apply to all contracts for the use of the Prefill browser extension (“the extension”) between the provider and you as the user. Terms of the user that differ from these do not become part of the contract unless the provider expressly agrees to them in text form.

A consumer is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business or profession (§ 13 BGB). A trader is a natural or legal person or a partnership with legal capacity that, when entering into the contract, acts in the exercise of its trade, business or profession (§ 14 BGB).

2. What the service is

The extension is a tool for preparing posts for several social networks. For each platform you select, it enters your text and your media into that platform’s input field in your browser, and then stops. Currently supported are X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon and W Social.

The extension does not publish posts. The click on the button that publishes is made by you alone, on the page of the platform concerned. You alone therefore decide whether, when and in what form a post is published.

The extension works in your browser and in the sessions in which you are already signed in there. The provider receives no credentials and no session data for the platforms. Details are set out in the privacy policy.

The provider has no connection with the operators of X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon or W Social. The extension is not a product of these companies and is neither endorsed nor reviewed by them.

3. Free version and Pro version

The free version includes preparing posts for X, hashtag management, image descriptions, character counting, copying the post text to the clipboard, and three saved lines from one category. It stays free for good and requires no user account.

The Pro version additionally includes preparing posts for Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon and W Social, the complete library of saved lines, two categories of your own, and the further Pro features described on the website. It is unlocked with a licence key. No user account is required.

The provider may develop the range of features further, in particular by adding features. If the scope of the Pro version is materially reduced, the provider will inform you in text form at least four weeks in advance. In that case you may terminate the contract for cause with effect from the date the change takes effect.

4. Licence key

After booking you receive a licence key by email, sent to the address of your PayPal account. With this key you unlock the Pro features in the extension. Keep the key safe and do not pass it on to anyone else.

If there are signs that your licence key is being used without authorisation, please inform the provider without delay at info@prefill.eu.

The extension checks the licence key at regular intervals with the provider’s server. Which data is transmitted in the process is described in the privacy policy.

5. Conclusion of the contract

The presentation of the Pro version on this website is not a binding offer but an invitation to submit an offer.

By completing the payment process with PayPal you submit a binding offer to take out a subscription. The contract is concluded as soon as the provider confirms the booking or unlocks the Pro features.

The provider stores the text of the contract and sends it to you by email together with these terms. The language of the contract is German. Translations of these terms are for information only, and the German version is authoritative.

6. Prices and payment

The Pro version costs €4.99 per month or €49.90 per year. These are final prices. The first 14 days are a free trial. If you cancel within these 14 days, no charge is due.

The provider is a small business under § 19 UStG. No VAT is charged and therefore no VAT is shown.

Billing is handled by PayPal. PayPal’s own terms also apply to the use of PayPal. A PayPal account is required.

After the free trial, the fee is due in advance at the start of each billing period and is collected through the PayPal subscription. If collection fails, the provider may suspend the Pro features until the amount is settled, and will notify you of this in text form beforehand.

The provider will announce price changes in text form at least six weeks before they take effect. Until the change takes effect, you may terminate the contract with effect from the end of the current billing period. If you do not terminate, the new price is deemed agreed from the following billing period. The notice will point out this consequence separately.

7. Term and cancellation

Depending on the option chosen, the subscription runs for one month or one year and renews for the same period unless it is cancelled beforehand.

You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period, either directly in your PayPal account under recurring payments or informally by email to info@prefill.eu. No reason is required.

The Pro features remain available until the end of the period already paid for. After that the free version remains available unchanged.

The right of both parties to terminate for good cause remains unaffected. Good cause for the provider exists in particular in the event of a serious or repeated breach of the acceptable use policy.

8. Right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days. The full withdrawal information and the model withdrawal form are on the withdrawal and refunds page, which also describes the conditions under which the right of withdrawal expires early.

9. Obligations when using the extension

You may use the extension only for your own accounts and only within the terms of the platforms that apply at the time. The details are set out in the acceptable use policy, which forms part of this contract.

You alone are responsible for the content you prepare and publish. The provider does not review content and as a rule does not take note of it.

10. Availability and changes to the platforms

The extension works on third party websites. If they change their structure, preparing posts may temporarily fail. The provider endeavours to adapt to such changes promptly, but does not owe uninterrupted functionality with respect to services over which the provider has no influence.

If a platform discontinues its service, blocks access or permanently prevents use, support for that platform ends. If this affects a platform of the Pro version, you may terminate the contract for cause with effect from the date support ends. Fees already paid in advance are refunded pro rata for the unused period.

Maintenance work and faults on the website or the licence server may temporarily limit availability. The extension itself works in your browser and also functions without a connection to the provider’s server. The exception is activating the licence key. A licence that has already been activated remains usable for up to 30 days without a connection.

11. Warranty and liability

The statutory warranty rights apply. For digital products, §§ 327 et seq. BGB also apply.

The provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, and to the extent of any guarantee given.

In cases of simple negligence, the provider is liable only for breach of an obligation whose fulfilment is essential to the proper performance of the contract and on whose observance you may regularly rely (cardinal obligation). In that case liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical for the contract at the time it was concluded.

Otherwise liability is excluded. These limitations also apply in favour of the provider’s vicarious agents.

The provider is not liable for measures a platform takes against your account, in particular suspensions or deletions, unless these result from a culpable breach of duty by the provider. Please note the explicit notice on this in the acceptable use policy.

12. Rights of use

For the term of the contract, the provider grants you a simple, non transferable right to use the extension as intended. Reselling, renting out or passing on the Pro unlock to third parties is not permitted.

The provider acquires no rights to the content you create.

13. Changes to these terms

The provider may change these terms if this is necessary because of a change in the law, because of supreme court case law or because of a change in the scope of the service, and you are not unreasonably disadvantaged as a result.

The provider will inform you of changes in text form at least six weeks before they take effect. If you do not object before they take effect, the changes are deemed accepted. The notice will point out this consequence separately. If you object, the contract ends when the change takes effect.

14. Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection granted by mandatory provisions of the law of the state in which they have their habitual residence.

If the user is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract is the provider’s place of business.

Should any provision of these terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected.

15. Consumer dispute resolution

The provider does not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board and is not obliged to do so (§ 36 (1) no. 1 VSBG). This applies to all recognised consumer arbitration boards, including the Federal Universal Arbitration Board.

The European Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025. A link to that platform is therefore no longer provided and will not be added.

The right to go to the state courts remains unaffected. It should not have to come to that, though: get in touch by email first, most things can be sorted out that way.
